Parallel ridging is visible as earthworks on aerial photographs (p1). It is considered likely to be medieval or post medieval ridge and furrow. The site was digitally plotted during the National Mapping Programme. The features are sited within an area described as medieval enclosures based on strip fields in the Historic Landscape Characterisation for Devon.

The ridge and furrow mentioned within this record by Young & Turner more likely represents evidence of improvement ridge and furrow, a common 19th-20th century practice involving the (mechanical) ploughing of ground for the improvement of drainage and or areas of rough ground. This monument record has accordingly been indexed as narrow ridge and furrow so as not to be confused with ridge and furrow typical of the medieval period.
