Parallel cultivation marks are visible as earthworks on aerial photographs (p1). They may be of medieval or post medieval date, however a modern agricultural origin cannot be ruled out. These features were digitally plotted during the National Mapping Programme. The features are sited within an area described as medieval enclosures based on strip fields in the Historic Landscape Characterisation for Devon.

The cultivation marks mentioned within this record by Young & Turner more likely represents evidence of improvement ridge and furrow, a common 19th-20th century practice involving the (mechanical) ploughing of ground for the improvement of drainage and or areas of rough ground. This monument record has accordingly been indexed as narrow ridge and furrow.
The photograph reference for this record provided by the Winkleigh NMP project is incomplete.
