Fragments of a post medieval drainage system or water meadow are visible as earthworks on aerial photographs (p1) to the east of Colleton Weir. The parallel ditched features were digitally plotted during the National Mapping Programme. The features are sited within an area described as C18th and C19th post-medieval enclosures in the Historic Landscape Characterisation for Devon.

The earthworks mentioned within this record by Young & Turner more likely represent evidence of improvement ridge and furrow, a common 19th-20th century practice involving the (mechanical) ploughing of ground for the improvement of drainage and or areas of rough ground. This monument record has accordingly been indexed as narrow ridge and furrow so as not to be confused with ridge and furrow typical of the medieval period.
