A small patch of ridge and furrow cultivation is visible as earthworks on aerial photographs (p1) and was digitally plotted as part of the National Mapping Programme. The rigs are 35m long on average. The features lie within an area classed as medieval enclosures in the Historic Landscape Characterisation for Devon.

Hegarty, C., Knight, S. and Sims, R., 2017-2018, Backlog recording of the Winkleigh National Mapping Programme Survey (Personal Comment). SDV360588.

The ridge and furrow mentioned within this record by Young & Turner more likely represents evidence of improvement ridge and furrow, a common 19th-20th century practice involving the (mechanical) ploughing of ground for the improvement of drainage and or areas of rough ground. This monument record has accordingly been indexed as narrow ridge and furrow so as not to be confused with ridge and furrow typical of the medieval period.
