The fragmentary remains of a field system are visible as earthwork ditches on aerial photographs (p1) and were digitally plotted as part of the National Mapping Programme. One of the fields, which are typically 45m x 20m in size, contains traces of ridge and furrow cultivation. The features lie within an area classed as C18th and C19th post-medieval enclosures in the Historic Landscape Characterisation for Devon.

The ridge and furrow mentioned within this record by Young & Turner more likely represents evidence of improvement ridge and furrow, a common 19th-20th century practice involving the (mechanical) ploughing of ground for the improvement of drainage and or areas of rough ground. This monument record has accordingly been indexed as narrow ridge and furrow so as not to be confused with ridge and furrow typical of the medieval period
