Young, A., 2005, Transcriptions from Winkleigh Biomass Plant National Mapping Programme (NMP) project (Cartographic). SDV321540.

Transcriptions of ditches and a bank correspond to the grid reference for PRN166692.

Young, A. & Turner, S., 2005-2006, North Devon/Winkleigh Biomass Plant National Mapping Programme (NMP) project database records, PRN166692 (Interpretation). SDV358473.

Two field boundaries are visible on aerial photographs (p1) and were digitally plotted as part of the National Mapping Programme. The boundaries survive as ditches, with a 180m length of bank running parallel to the easternmost one. The boundaries lie within an area classed as C15th to C18th ‘Barton’ fields in the Historic Landscape Characterisation for Devon and could be medieval or later in origin. Alternatively they might be earlier, possibly associated with ring ditch 166691.

Hegarty, C., Knight, S. and Sims, R., 2017-2018, Backlog recording of the Winkleigh National Mapping Programme Survey (Personal Comment). SDV360588.

The cropmarks correspond to field boundaries on historic maps and so are unlikely to be of prehistoric origin as suggested by Young & Turner.
