Traces of parallel ridging are visible as low earthworks on aerial photographs (p1) to the north-west of Higher Chilton. These features are potentially the remains of medieval ridge and furrow and were digitally plotted during the National Mapping Programme. The features are sited within an area described as rough ground in the Historic Landscape Characterisation for Devon.
