Summary

Two sinuous and parallel ditches, with two shorter, linear ditches, are visible on aerial photographs to the northeast of Lower Watertown, Satterleigh and Warkleigh. They are situated parallel to the southeast facing slope and are interpreted as the remains of a possible post-medieval or 19th century catch meadow system.

Transcriptions of ditches correspond to the grid reference for PRN167699.

The Winkleigh NMP record description for PRN167699 is incorrect and does not match the multiple cropmark ditches which have been transcribed in this location. Their situation parallel to the hillslope and proximity to a water course may suggest they represent the remains of a post-medieval or 19th century catch meadow system.
