Linear cropmarks of levelled ditches, up to 7m in width, are visible on oblique aerial photographs taken in 1984, at Higher Penn, Staverton. The northeast to southwest aligned cropmarks are situated either side of an un-named road and broadly respect the historic field patterns shown on the 1845 Parish Tithe Map characterised by medieval enclosures based on strip fields. The cropmarks do not correspond with any features shown on this map, or on subsequent historic maps made available to the survey and they are interpreted as possible medieval field boundaries which had passed out of use by the mid-19th century.
