Linear cropmarks of narrow ditches up to 3m wide and over 110m long are visible on aerial photographs of 1989 and 1995 on the south-facing slopes to the south of Black Forest Farm, Starcross. The visible cropmarks do not correspond with any boundaries depicted on the 19th century maps available to the survey and are not in keeping with the character of the surrounding historic field pattern. The cropmarks are interpreted as evidence of a former field system, potentially of later prehistoric to Roman date.
