A slight curvilinear ditch, circa 7m in width is visible as a cropmark on digital images derived from aerial photographs taken in 1999 and as an earthwork on lidar images captured between 1998 and 2017, off Bowden Hill road, Ashburton. The earthwork closely respects the historic field pattern depicted in this location on the 1840 Parish Tithe Map and characterised as medieval enclosures based on strip fields, although does not correspond with any linear features on this map, or on subsequent available historic maps. It is therefore interpreted as a relict medieval field boundary which had passed out of use by the mid-19th century.
