Narrow curvilinear ditches are visible on aerial photographs taken in 1969 and digital images derived from lidar data captured between 1998 and 2017, on the moderate west facing combe slopes to the south of Yolland House, Ashburton. The multiple parallel channels roughly follow the contours of the combe and are interpreted as the gutters of a possible catch meadow irrigation system, tapping a watercourse at Yolland House. Catch meadows were popular in the 19th century but many continued in use into the mid-20th century. The origin of the north-eastern most earthwork is, however, less certain and it is possible it represents part of a worn trackway extending from Yolland House.
