An ovoid shaped earthwork pit, circa 37m in length by 25m in width, surrounded by an outer bank, circa 15m wide, and interpreted as a post-medieval or 19th century extractive pit is visible on digital images derived from lidar data captured between 1998 and 2017, to the south of Lake Farm, Broadhempston. The earthworks do not correspond with any pit features on the available 19th century mapping, which supports the interpretation that the extractive pit had passed out of use prior to the mid-to-late 19th century.
