An oval shaped earthwork pit, circa 16m in length by 13m in width, with semi-circular outer bank, circa 10m wide, and interpreted as a possible post-medieval or 19th century extractive pit is visible on digital images derived from lidar data captured between 1998 and 2017, on Knowle Hill, Broadhempston. The earthworks do not correspond with any pit features on the available 19th century mapping, which supports the interpretation that the extractive pit had passed out of use prior to the mid-to-late 19th century.
