Full description

Ordnance Survey, 1880-1899, First Edition Ordnance 25 inch map (Cartographic). SDV336179.

Environment Agency, 1998-2017, LiDAR DTM data (1m resolution) EA: South Devon Coast to Dartmoor, LIDAR SX9482 Environment Agency DTM 01-JAN-1998 to 30-SEP-2017 (Cartographic). SDV361470.

A pit and associated mound are visible as earthworks.

Hegarty, C., Knight, S. and Sims, R., 2018-2019, The South Devon Coast to Dartmoor Aerial Investigation and Mapping Survey. Area 1, Haldon Ridge to Dart Valley (Interpretation). SDV361305.

A roughly rectilinear pit circa 20 metres across is visible on digital images derived from lidar data captured from1998 to 2017, under woodland circa 200m north-east of Black Forest Lodge, Kenton. A funnel shaped hollow circa 8m wide may have provided access to the pit from the north-west. A mound circa 18m in diameter on the north-east edge of the pit may be evidence of a spoil heap. The woodland is first depicted, as a plantation, on the Ordnance Survey First Edition map, and the pit therefore predates the late-19th century.
