A dark linear cropmark of a levelled ditch, circa 2m in width, is visible on aerial photographs taken in 1969, to the northwest of Bow Grange, Ipplepen. The east to west aligned cropmark closely respects the historic field pattern depicted in this location on the 1842 Ipplepen Parish Tithe Map which is characterised as medieval enclosures based on strip fields. The cropmark does not, however, correspond with any linear features on this map, or on subsequent available historic maps and is therefore interpreted as a relict medieval field boundary which had passed out of use by the mid-19th century.
