Linear earthwork banks and ditches, between 3m to 10m in width, are visible on digital images derived from lidar data captured between 1998 and 2017, at Broadhempston. The earthworks are typically northwest to southeast and northeast to southwest aligned and partly define a series of rectilinear enclosures. The earthworks are in keeping with the historic field pattern depicted in this location on the mid-19th century Parish Tithe Map which is characterised as post-medieval and medieval enclosures. With a single exception, the earthworks do not correspond with the linear features on this map, or on subsequent available historic maps. They are therefore interpreted as relict medieval or post-medieval field boundaries which had almost completely passed out of use by the mid-19th century.
