Linear earthwork banks, between 3-7m in width, are visible on digital images derived from lidar data captured between 1998 and 2017, to the northwest of Causeway Cross, Ipplepen. The earthworks are northwest to southeast and northeast to southwest aligned and partly define a number of rectilinear enclosures. The earthworks are in keeping with the historic field pattern depicted in this location on the mid-19th century Parish Tithe Map which is characterised as medieval enclosures based on strip fields. The earthworks only part correspond with field boundaries shown on this map and are therefore interpreted as relict field boundaries of medieval date which had largely passed out of use by the mid-19th century.
