Linear earthwork banks, circa 6m wide, are visible on aerial imagery taken between 1946-1949 and on digital images derived from lidar data captured between 1998 and 2017, on the crest of Wrigwell Hill, Ipplepen. The earthworks are northwest to southeast and northeast to southwest aligned and partly define a number of rectilinear enclosures. The earthworks are in keeping with the historic field pattern depicted in this location on the mid-19th century Parish Tithe Map which is characterised as medieval enclosures based on strip fields. They do not correspond with any linear features shown on this map, or on later available historic maps and so are therefore interpreted as relict field boundaries of medieval or post-medieval date which had completely passed out of use by the mid-19th century.
