A series of earthwork banks, circa 4m in width, is visible on digital images derived from lidar data captured between 1998 and 2017, on a limestone plateau at Dyer's Wood. The linear and sinuous earthworks occupy an area of approximately 2.58 hectares, are variously aligned and partly define at least two rectilinear shaped enclosures. The earthworks do not correspond with any linear features shown in this location on the mid-19th century Parish Tithe Map, nor are they particularly in keeping with the surrounding historic field patterns characterised as medieval enclosures based on strip fields. Their form, character and setting support the interpretation that they represent relict field boundaries of a possible prehistoric or Romano-British field system. A number of earthwork field systems which are similar in character are recorded on the limestone plateaux in this location.
