Hegarty, C., Knight, S. and Sims, R., 2018-2019, The South Devon Coast to Dartmoor Aerial Investigation and Mapping Survey. Area 1, Haldon Ridge to Dart Valley (AI&M) (Interpretation). SDV361305.

Earthwork banks, between 7-10m in width, are visible on aerial photographs taken in 1965 and digital images derived from lidar data captured between 1998 and 2017, located either side of an unnamed road at Courtland Cross, Denbury and Torbryan. The parallel and linear earthworks are northeast to southwest and northwest to southeast aligned and are in keeping with the historic field pattern depicted in this location on the mid-19th century Parish Tithe Map which is characterised as Barton fields. The earthworks do not correspond with any linear features shown on this map, or on later available historic maps and they are therefore interpreted as relict field boundaries of possible medieval, or post-medieval date which had completely passed out of use by the mid-19th century.
