An earthwork bank is visible on digital images derived from lidar data captured between 1998 and 2017, on a limestone plateau at Dornafield Cross, Ipplepen. The earthwork bank, circa 3m wide, forms an oval shaped enclosure, circa 23m in length by 17m in width, with a short linear off-shoot extending eastwards. Its origin is largely unclear, although an ‘Old Quarry and ’Limekiln’ depicted on the Ordnance Survey First Edition map to the immediate north, may suggest the earthwork forms part of an associated post-medieval or 19th century feature, perhaps representing spoil form quarrying. Its association with linear banks MDV122727 which define a rectilinear shaped enclosure around the earthwork is unclear.
