A mound circa 107 metres long and 10 metres wide is visible on aerial photographs of 1946 to the west of Exeter Racecourse on Haldon Hill, Kenn. The mound or bank is surrounded by a generally between ditch 2 to 7 metres wide, although it is wider in places. A shallow, irregularly shaped pit, probably a gravel quarry, is visible abutting the north-east end of the mound. It is possible the mound is a product of the quarrying process. The earthworks are not depicted on early 20th century Ordnance survey maps and probably date from the decades prior to the 1940s. The earthworks were probably levelled during dualling works to the A38.
