Hegarty, C., Knight, S. and Sims, R., 2018-2019, The South Devon Coast to Dartmoor Aerial Investigation and Mapping Survey. Area 1, Haldon Ridge to Dart Valley (Interpretation). SDV361305.

Oval and irregularly shaped pits, between 20-60m in length, are visible as earthworks on digital images derived from lidar data captured between 1998 and 2017, within Sunderland Copse, Denbury and Torbryan. The largest of the five earthworks partly corresponds with a ‘Quarry’ shown and labelled in this location on the First Edition Ordnance Survey map of the late 19th century, although the remaining earthworks do not correspond with any such features. They are interpreted as post-medieval or 19th century quarries for possible limestone extraction. The earthworks are not visible on the available aerial imagery owing to dense tree cover of Sunderland Copse.
