Linear ditches and banks are visible as earthworks on aerial photographs taken from 1965 onwards and on digital images derived from lidar data captured between 1998 and 2017, at Halwell Cross, Denbury and Torbryan. The earthworks are east to west and north to south aligned and are in keeping with the historic field pattern depicted in this location on the mid-19th century Parish Tithe Map which is characterised as medieval enclosures based on strip fields, although they do not correspond with any linear features shown on this map, or on subsequent available historic maps. They are therefore interpreted as possible relict field boundaries of potential medieval date which had passed out of use by the mid-19th century.
