Linear earthwork banks, circa 15m in width, are visible on digital images derived from lidar data captured between 1998 and 2017, at Dornafield Cross, Ogwell. The contiguous earthworks are northeast to southwest and northwest to southeast aligned and define several partial rectilinear enclosures of varying size. The earthworks are broadly in keeping with the historic field pattern depicted in this location on the late 19th century Ordnance Survey First Edition map which is characterised as post-medieval enclosures, although they do not correspond with any linear features shown on this map, or on subsequent available historic maps. They are therefore interpreted as relict field boundaries of medieval or post-medieval date which had passed out of use by the mid-19th century. An earlier date cannot also be discounted given the density of, and similarity with, prehistoric or Romano-British field systems recorded in the vicinity on the limestone plateaux to the south.
