Summary

Tin pits and a single shaft are distributed around the southern branch of Hook Lake tin stream on the west side of Quickbeam Hill. The pits are arranged into five clusters to the north and south of the streamworks (see also MDV27881). Most are certainly trial pits used for prospecting, and are approximately 3.0 to 5.0 metres diameter, each with a small collar of spoil on the downslope side. One possible backfilled shaft at SX6503 6469, is much larger, with a diameter of approximately 12 metres. A narrow cut channel 40 metres to the west may be the drain from a blocked adit connecting to the shaft. These remains would represent very limited tin mining at this location.
