Hegarty, C., Knight, S. and Sims, R., 2018-2019, The South Devon Coast to Dartmoor Aerial Investigation and Mapping Survey. Area 1, Haldon Ridge to Dart Valley (Interpretation). SDV361305.

Oval and irregularly shaped earthwork pits, between 10-55m long, are visible on digital images derived from lidar data captured between 1998 and 2017, within Conitor Copse, Abbotskerswell. The pits do not correspond with any features shown in this location on the available historic maps, although earthworks shown and labelled as ‘Coniter Quarry’ (MDV8631) are recorded to the immediate north on the Ordnance Survey First Edition 25-inch Survey map, with which they are possibly associated. They are therefore interpreted as evidence of post-medieval or 19th century quarrying which had likely passed out of use by the late 19th century. The earthworks are not visible on other available aerial imagery owing to dense tree cover of Conitor Copse.
