A roughly oval pit circa 31m by 19m in size is visible as an earthwork on aerial photographs of 1946 and images derived from lidar data captured between 1998 and 2017 on the west-facing combe slopes to the west of Lower Bramble, Ashton. A low mound abuts the western, downslope edge of the pit. The visible earthworks are interpreted as an extractive pit and spoil heap, possibly associated with a lime kiln 80m to the south.
