Name:Tinners' building north of Blatchford Bottom, Cornwood

Summary

A ruined rectangular building set amidst an area of tin streamwork remains, 12 metres west of the River Erme, north of Blatchford Bottom. A probable tinners’ hut or lodge. The walls have been built into a hollow between the waste heaps of the tinwork, reinforced with a dry-stone revetment on three sides and banked on the southern end. The entrance was on the western side. The interior dimensions are 6.0 metres by 2.8 metres.

A ruined rectangular building set amidst an area of tin streamwork remains, 12 metres west of the River Erme, north of Blatchford Bottom. A probable tinners’ hut or lodge. The walls have been built into a hollow between the waste heaps of the tinwork, reinforced with a dry-stone revetment on three sides and banked on the southern end. (21/07/2019) In an area of tin streaming this hut has been built into the banks of earlier tinners work. Bracken is now beginning to encroach the internal floor surface. The walls remain clear; good condition.
