The orchard was largely cleared of trees; banks wre visible as slight earthworks.

Hegarty, C., Knight, S. and Sims, R., 2018-2019, The South Devon Coast to Dartmoor Aerial Investigation and Mapping Survey. Area 1, Haldon Ridge to Dart Valley (Interpretation). SDV361305.

The remains of parallel ridges were visible as earthworks on images derived from lidar data captured between 1998 and 2017 on the south-west facing slope north-east of Northwood, Chudleigh.
The closely spaced banks, measuring circa 6 metres wide, cross the contours of the slope, dropping in elevation to the north-west. The banks are visible within a plot (764) listed as New Orchard on the Tithe map and apportionments for Chudleigh,
The visible earthworks are interpreted as banks made to enhance drainage and provide additional depth of soil within the orchard and were probably made prior to 1840. An early 19th century date is probable, but an earlier origin is possible. The orchard remained moderately planted in 1946, but most trees have been cleared by 2016.
The banks remain visible as earthworks on images derived from lidar data captured between 1998 and 2017.
