An oval hollow is visible on images derived from lidar data captured between 1998 and 2017 and aerial photographs of 2011 as an earthwork circa 18m by 10m in size on the north-west facing slopes west of Chudleighwoods Farm, Chudleigh. A small mound, probably spoil, is visible on the downslope lip of the pit. The visible earthwork does not correspond with any features depicted on the 19th century historic maps available to the survey and is probably the remains of an extractive pit of post-medieval to 19th century date that passed out of use prior to circa 1840.
