Hegarty, C., Knight, S. and Sims, R., 2018-2019, The South Devon Coast to Dartmoor Aerial Investigation and Mapping Survey. Area 1, Haldon Ridge to Dart Valley (Interpretation). SDV361305.

Sub-oval shaped earthwork mounds, between 14-28m in length and circa 10m wide, are visible on aerial photographs taken in 1946 and digital images derived from lidar data captured between 1998 and 2017, to the northeast of Witheridge House, Ogwell. The earthworks do not correspond with any features shown in this location on the mid-19th century Parish Tithe Map, or on subsequent available historic maps. They are of largely uncertain origin, although are tentatively interpreted as post-medieval or 19th century spoil heaps associated with quarrying which is shown on historic mapping in the area, or prehistoric or Romano-British clearance cairns, examples of which have been recorded in proximity to the east (MDV123184 & MDV123178). Linear earthwork banks are also visible to the south of mounds, although these broadly correspond with field boundaries shown on the Parish Tithe Map and so were not transcribed during this survey.
