Earthworks of pits are visible.

Two sub-oval shaped earthworks, circa 15m long and interpreted as post-medieval or 19th century extractive pits, are visible on digital images derived from lidar data captured between 1998 and 2017 within Mellon’s Copse, Newton Abbot. The visible earthworks do not correspond with any pit features depicted in this location on the available 19th century mapping, supporting the interpretation that they had passed out of use prior to the mid-to-late 19th century. The earthworks are not visible on other available aerial imagery owing to thick tree cover of Mellon’s Copse.
