Hegarty, C., Knight, S. and Sims, R., 2018-2019, The South Devon Coast to Dartmoor Aerial Investigation and Mapping Survey. Area 1, Haldon Ridge to Dart Valley (Interpretation). SDV361305.

A series of linear and curvilinear banks, between 3m to 6m wide, is visible as earthworks on aerial photographs taken in 1986 and digital images derived from lidar data captured between 1998 and 2017, at South Knighton, Ilsington. The closely spaced and parallel earthworks are broadly northeast to southwest aligned and occupy an area of 2.27 hectares of steep southeast facing slope. The majority of the earthworks do not correspond with any linear or curvilinear features shown in this location on the mid-19th century Parish Tithe Map, or on subsequent available historic maps. Their character and topographic setting support the interpretation they represent evidence of possible lynchets and field boundaries of medieval date.
