Parallel earthwork ridges, circa 5m wide, are visible on aerial photographs taken in 1946, to the northeast of Ingsdon Lodge, Ilsington. The visible banks are closely spaced and are aligned across the contours of the southeast facing combe slope, occupying an area of approximately 0.37 hectares. The banks coincide with orchards depicted in this location on the Ordnance Survey First Edition 25-inch map. Aerial photographs of 1946 show that the orchard trees have been partly thinned out and have been completely cleared and the earthworks levelled by 1964. The earthworks are interpreted as possible post-medieval or 19th century tree planting banks for this orchard, the fruit trees being established on the earthworks for increased soil depth and improved drainage.
