Hegarty, C., Knight, S. and Sims, R., 2018-2019, The South Devon Coast to Dartmoor Aerial Investigation and Mapping Survey. Area 1, Haldon Ridge to Dart Valley (AI&M) (Interpretation). SDV361305.

Linear cropmarks which have formed over levelled ditches, up to 10m wide, are visible on aerial photographs taken in 1983 and digital images derived from aerial photographs taken in 2018, to the northeast of Oaklands, Newton Abbot. The parallel northwest to southeast aligned cropmarks respects the historic field pattern depicted in this location on the mid-19th century Parish Tithe Map which is characterised as medieval enclosures based on strip fields, although do not correspond with any linear features on this map, or on subsequent available historic maps. They are therefore interpreted as relict field boundaries of medieval or post-medieval date which had passed out of use by the mid-19th century.
