Waterhouse, R., 2017, The Tavistock Canal. Its History and Archaeology, 133, fig 5.15 (Monograph). SDV361789.

There were once two cranes operating on the canal wharfs at Tavistock; one on the north side of the canal basin, (which is marked on the historic mapping) partly shown on a post-abandonment photograph (fig 5.15) of Tavistock Wharf which includes a crane with a vertical post and jib, with hand-operated gearing mounted on its iron post. Another old photograph of Gill & Company's wharf (not referenced) shows another crane opposite it on the south side od the canal basin, upstream of the coal warehouse.
