HER Number:MDV123329
Name:Field Boundary or Trackway north of Pridhamsleigh Cavern, Staverton

Summary

A double-ditched earthwork, visible on images derived from lidar data captured between 1998 and 2017, and as dark cropmarks on aerial photographs taken from 1946 onwards, is interpreted as a possible post-medieval quarry track, or medieval field boundary with drainage ditches either side. It probably went out of use before the mid-19th century.

Double parallel earthwork ditches, 2 metres wide and 3 metres apart, are visible on images derived from lidar data captured between 1998 and 2017, and as dark cropmarks on aerial photographs taken from 1946 onwards. At its south end it appears to terminate at a quarry, and may have been part of a quarry trackway, but alternatively could be the remains of a field boundary with drainage ditches either side. It is not depicted on the Tithe map and any field boundary or trackway here probably went out of use before the mid-19th century.
