Hegarty, C., Knight, S. and Sims, R., 2018-2019, The South Devon Coast to Dartmoor Aerial Investigation and Mapping Survey. Area 1, Haldon Ridge to Dart Valley (Interpretation). SDV361305.

A curvilinear earthwork terrace up to circa 7m wide and 220m long is visible on aerial photographs of 1946 closely following the contours of the slope on the north-east facing combe south east of Lower Dunscombe Farm, Chudleigh.
The visible earthwork corresponds with a field boundary depicted on the Tithe map for Chudleigh and a track or footpath on the Ordnance Survey First Edition 25 inch map.
The earthwork is therefore interpreted as the remains of a former field boundary, possibly of medieval to post-medieval origin, that was removed and reused as a route between circa 1840 and 1880. The earthwork remains visible on digital images and elevation derived from aerial photographs of 2015 to 2016.
