Parallel earthwork ridges, circa 4m wide, are visible on digital images derived from lidar data captured between 1998 and 2017, at Ventiford Bridge, Teigngrace. The visible banks are closely spaced, east to west aligned and occupy an area of approximately 0.2 hectares. The banks coincide with an orchard depicted in this location on the Ordnance Survey First Edition 25inch map of the late 19th century. They are interpreted as possible post-medieval or 19th century tree planting banks of this orchard, the fruit trees being established on the earthworks for increased soil depth and improved drainage. The orchard remains covered in trees on aerial photographs taken between 1946-49, although have been thinned out by 1965 and completely cleared by 1999.
