Three curvilinear ditches are visible on aerial photographs of 1946 and images derived from lidar data captured between 1998 and 2017 as earthworks on the north-west facing slopes overlooking the A38, north-west of Chudleigh. The earthworks are roughly parallel, circa 15 and 25m apart, closely following the contours of the slope. The upper ditch is circa 2m wide and over 40m long. The lower two ditches are narrow but up to 55m long.
The earthworks are interpreted as the remains of a small catch meadow of probable post-medieval to 19th century date, a form of water meadow irrigation popular in the 19th and early 20th centuries but which originated in the medieval period.
