A circular upstanding structure is visible on aerial photographs of 1946 at Conduit Square, Chudleigh. The circular structure, which measures approximately 8m in diameter, is possibly a Second World War temporary water tank known as a EWS (Emergency Water Supply) reservoir. Emergency Water Supply reservoirs were normally constructed from 1941 to 1942 in areas where water supply was at risk of disruption due to air raids. At circa 8m in diameter, it is smaller than many known Emergency Water Supply reservoirs, which elsewhere in the country appear to be between 10-12 metres in diameter. The structure was not visible on images post-dating 1946.
