Hegarty, C., Knight, S. and Sims, R., 2018-2019, The South Devon Coast to Dartmoor Aerial Investigation and Mapping Survey. Area 1, Haldon Ridge to Dart Valley (Interpretation). SDV361305.

An irregularly shaped pit is visible on aerial photographs of the 1940s and images derived from lidar data captured between 1998 and 2017 as an earthwork approximately 24 by 34m in size, to the north-west of Pitt House, Hennock.
The earthwork does not correspond with any pit marked on the 19th century maps available to the survey. It is located in a plot depicted as an orchard on the Tithe Map for Hennock, and is interpreted as evidence of a quarry or extractive of post-medieval to early 19th century date that had passed out of use prior to 1840 and subsequently been absorbed into an orchard.
