A curvilinear earthwork ditch up to circa 7m wide and up to circa 330m long is visible on digital images derived from lidar data captured between 1998 and 2017 on the west facing slopes north of Babcombe Farm, Kingsteignton.
The visible earthworks correspond in part with a field boundary depicted on the Tithe Map for Kingsteignton, but not shown on the OS First Edition 25inch map. A line of trees on the later map is indicative of former hedgerow planting. The earthwork is interpreted as evidence of a former field boundary of probable medieval origin that was fully removed between circa 1840 and 1880.
