A curvilinear ditch and bank are visible on aerial photographs of 1946 as a cropmark and earthwork on aerial photographs of 1946 and digital images derived from lidar data captured between 1998 and 2017, on the south-west facing slopes south-east of Haldon Lane, Ideford.
Each measure up to circa 15m in width and are circa 230m long.
The visible earthworks correspond with a field boundary depicted on the Tithe Map for Ideford, but not the Ordnance Survey First Edition 25inch map.
The earthwork and cropmark are therefore interpreted as the plough spread remains of a former field boundary of probable medieval origin that was removed between circa 1840 and 1880.
