Hegarty, C., Knight, S. and Sims, R., 2018-2019, The South Devon Coast to Dartmoor Aerial Investigation and Mapping Survey. Area 1, Haldon Ridge to Dart Valley (Interpretation). SDV361305.

An oval mound approximately 20 by 13m is size is visible on aerial photographs of 1946
as an earthwork on the south-facing slopes of a spur to north-east of Hestow Barton, Ideford. A modern structure, labelled as a tank, is sent into the mound and the southern half appears to have been damaged by excavation or erosion.
The mound is not depicted as an earthwork on the 19th century maps available to the survey but does match a small area of woodland depicted on the OS 1880s First Edition 25inch map.
The function of the mound is unknown, but the map evidence might support the interpretation that the mound predates the late 19th century.
Further field investigation is recommended to clarify the character of the earthwork.
