Hegarty, C., Knight, S. and Sims, R., 2018-2019, The South Devon Coast to Dartmoor Aerial Investigation and Mapping Survey. Area 1, Haldon Ridge to Dart Valley (Interpretation). SDV361305.

A channel or ditch up to circa 435m long is visible on aerial photographs of 1989 and digital images derived from lidar data captured between 1998 and 2017 as an earthwork north of Coombe Farm, Ideford.
The visible earthwork corresponds with a water channel, possibly a leat or millstream or millrace, depicted on the Tithe map for Ideford and OS 1880s First Edition 25inch map.
The channel remains clearly identifiable for circa 175m north of the buildings at Combe but is less clear where it follows the eastern boundary of Sedgewell Covert and may have been partly filled or levelled along this section.
As the watercourse is depicted on the 19th century maps it has not been transcribed by the survey. The type of mill or works this millrace powered is not known, but the plot is listed as a Tanyard on the tithe apportionments for Ideford and the mill might therefore have ceased operation by circa 1840.
