A linear hollow or shallow ditch is visible as an earthwork on aerial photographs of 1946, north of Preston, Kingsteignton. The earthwork does not correspond with any former field boundary depicted on the 19th century maps available to the survey and is not in keeping with the character of the surrounding field pattern.
The visible earthwork is interpreted as a possible former trackway of 20th century date, possibly associated with clay extraction in the immediate area. The earthwork was destroyed by later large-scale clay extraction.
