A curvilinear ditched bank is visible as a cropmark and earthwork on aerial photographs of 1946 onwards on the south-facing slopes east of Whiteway Barton, Kingsteignton, on aerial photographs of 1946 and digital images derived from lidar data captured in 2013.
The bank is circa 7m in width and circa 140m long and corresponds with a field boundary depicted on the Tithe Map for Kingsteignton, but not the Ordnance Survey First Edition 25inch map. The earthwork and cropmark are therefore interpreted as the plough spread remains of a former field boundary of probable medieval origin that was removed between circa 1840 and 1880.
